Edgefield SC Folk Pottery Face Jug
Item #1264545836
Bidding August 12-19, 2001
Opening Bid $1400.00
High Bid $13,643.00
Reserve Not Met

Description/Dimensions: Fresh from a Pennsylvania estate. 6" tall. Has a double collar lip, the "flask like" shape and style of teeth make this piece unique. Edgefield expert attributed jug to BF Landrum circa 1850s - 1870s. I would suggest that one should consider the possibility that this jug was made sometime between 1845 and 1850 by two brothers who made Edgefield pottery on the shores of Shaws Creek. The double collar lip on this piece strongly resembles the double collar lip style on their jugs.
Damage/Repairs: Excellent condition with the exception of a few tiny flakes to the outer rim of the ears.
