Description/Dimensions: Stamped on the front bottom center
"W.F. HAHN, TRENTON, SC". Circa 1870. Called a "Clabber Pitcher"
although it doesn't have a pouring spout. It is fixed with a single
strap handle and the rim will either accept a lid or cloth could be
tied across the top and secured below the slightly flared rim. Highly
fired to a glassy finish in a brownish green coloration with iron
burnouts scattered throughout and several lighter green runs or drips.
Bottom exhibits moderate wear and is stained/grimy. Measures 10 3/4 "
tall and 23" circumference. Rim measures 5" outside diameter and the
bottom is 6" in diameter.
Damage/Repairs: Minor glaze flake on the rim measuring
less than 1/16" deep and 3/4" in circumference. |

Description/Dimensions: Circa 1850. Highly fired to a light
honey/green with celadon runs particularly from the handles and
decorated with a trailed, looped kaolin cartouche surrounding a
trailed kaolin 2 indicating volume. Decorations appear to be oval
shaped. This is an illusion created by the variance of the inner ring.
The outside of the decorations are almost perfectly round. One side
mesaure 5 3/8" while the other measures 5 1/8". Vessel measures 13
3/4" tall and 28" circumference. The rim measures 6" outside diameter
and the bottom is 7" in diameter. The lug handle measures 6" from
corner to corner and are 1 1/4" wide across the top. Bottom exhibits
moderate wear.
Damage/Repairs:
Chip measures 1" x 3" out
of the rim and an old, stable hairline extending from the bottom 9" up
the side. Hairline has no effect on the stability of the piece, it
rings like a tuning fork. |

Description/Dimensions: This jug was made sometime between 1845
& 1850 by two brothers who made Edgefield County pottery on the shores
of Shaws Creek in SC. It was stored in an old grits mill on Wrights
Mill Rd. in Aiken, SC completely protected from weather and light
until I acquired it in 1976. It has since been well preserved. It even
has it's original gloss finish.
Damage/Repairs: Completely flawless. NO cracks or chips. |
