Description/Dimensions: Alkaline glazed with wonderful glass runs 2 gallon jug with X signature. Mid 19th century. 13 1/2" x 10"
Damage/Repairs: One small fingernail size chip from the spout and one spot where glaze didn't take at firing. Very good condition with no cracks or repairs.
Description/Dimensions: Attributable to Miles Mills. Piece is 4 1/4" tall. Condition excellent to perfect. Glazed on interior. White kaolin eyes and mouth insert. Scored line across mouth insert to distinguish upper from lower but no scores for teeth. Also no pupils. Would be considered "trance piece". Clay body is reddish-gray. Glaze is a light brown under glaze with brown to dark green/black drips.
Damage/Repairs: One small flake off of the right ear. Two firing defects. Bottom of piece has shrinkage crack and right side of nose has partially separated from face during firing.
Description/Dimensions: "Bought this pottery vase in Greenville, SC from a lady who said it was made by the man in Edgefield who makes pottery. Neat glaze." 3 3/4" tall x 3 3/4" wide
Damage/Repairs: No chips or cracks.
Description/Dimensions: Nice ovoid jug, olive green/gray in color with alkaline runs. 14" high x 32" in circumference. Circa 1850. Has two slash marks.
Damage/Repairs: Strap handle has a very, very fain hairline crack. One minute chip on formed ring on shoulder and one minute chip above ring. Other than this the jug is excellent.
Comments: Would need to see piece in person to decide if piece is Edgefield.
Description/Dimensions: Letter "M" incised on belly. Rarest feature is braided handle. Three separate "ropes" of clay were braided together and applied to pot to create handle. Sold through Harmer Rooke for $797.50 in 1994. Refer to catalog auction 56, lot 68.
Damage/Repairs: Excellent undamaged condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
